The Founders of Mentoring In Motion, LLC are well versed in the legal and marketing fields. With over 35 combined years of experience in law and marketing, we have seen and done alot.
As Chief Marketing Officer and Practice Development Specialist for two top-twenty in their market full-service law firms , we have planned, developed, implemented and monitored law firm marketing and business development programs, and have assisted firm management with long-term strategic planning. We have increased business at the firms geometrically by implementing successful programs in these areas.
From practicing as an attorney in a medium-sized New York City law firm, to practicing as a solo practitioner in a suburban environment, we have experienced law practice from various perspectives. We gained an understanding into the practical internal workings of the law firm and insight into how to use marketing and client relationships in building and growing a successful law practice from the inside out.
Earning an M.B.A. in Marketing has taught the practical and theoretical aspects of marketing and we have put this knowledge to use by working extensively in marketing and advertising on many well-known products for nationally recognized companies, including account management at two advertising agencies.
We have shown many attorneys, both partners and associates, at varying levels of experience, how to build and grow their practice. We have helped them in the development and implementation of practical individual marketing plans and have provided sales coaching and training, client relationship building and other professional development skills to new and seasoned attorneys.
As both owner of a Law Firm Marketing Services Company, and as inside Chief Marketing and Recruiting Officer for a large law firm, we have helped law firms of all sizes design, write, develop and implement marketing strategies and solutions. We have established visual identity and branding campaigns. We have established ourselves as experts at law firm marketing communications materials, including brochures, newsletters, direct mail pieces, advertisements, press releases, web sites and other electronic promotional materials. We have organized and conducted seminars, client events, trade show presentations, and various other public relations, internal communications, community relations, and client service programs. We have designed attorney marketing databases used to gather client and prospect information, identify cross-selling opportunities and track referrals. We have developed attorney sales training and coaching programs as well as implemented firm-wide cross-selling iniatives.
We have founded two other successful businesses catering to the legal industry after recognizing the growing need from law firms and legal service providers for sales and marketing solutions that work.
We founded Mentoring In Motion, LLC and developed Past The Bar with the aim of harnessing all of our experience to date to help law students, practicing attorneys and law firms attain a satisfying and successful professional life.
In our spare time, when not doing all this other stuff, we enjoy our families, hanging out, watching sports, drinking beer and going to concerts.

Ed Miller, the Chief Marketing Officer for the Bridgewater, New Jersey full-service commercial law firm Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus, has over Sixteen years of experience in law firm and attorney marketing. Prior to joining Norris McLaughlin, Ed was the Practice Development Coordinator at the Morristown, NJ law firm Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti, LLP and was the Founder and Managing Member of Esquire Marketing and Sales, LLC.
Ed has been directly responsible for the planning, implementing and monitoring of law firm marketing and business development programs, as well as assisting firm management with long-term strategic planning issues.
Ed helps attorneys, on the partner and associate level, with the development and implementation of practical individual marketing and sales plans. He regularly provides sales coaching and training to both new and seasoned attorneys. Likewise, much of his time is devoted to developing and implementing marketing plans for new and existing law practice groups.
He is an expert in designing and writing law firm marketing communications materials, including brochures, attorney bios, practice area descriptions, newsletters, direct mail pieces, advertisements, and press releases. Ed has experience in the design of web sites and other electronic promotional materials. Ed also organizes and conducts seminars, client events, trade show presentations, and other projects. Additionally, he has developed and implemented law firm public relations, visual identity and branding campaigns, as well as internal communications, community relations, and client service programs.
Over the years, Ed has designed attorney marketing databases which are used for gathering client and prospect information, identifying cross-selling opportunities, tracking referrals and marketing activities, event planning and follow-up, and budgeting. He has also created systems to track individual and firm marketing expenses.
He is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of legal marketing topics.
In 2000, Ed was voted onto the Board of Directors of Able Energy, Inc.
Residing in Pennsylvania with his wife and two sons, Ed enjoys golf, watching sports and drinking beer in his spare time.
Janet Greenberg earned her law degree in 1990 from Rutgers Law School, Newark, NJ. She founded Professional Net Images, Inc., a company that has helped many law firms and others in the legal community successfully market themselves, sell their legal services and drive client development. Prior to starting Professional Net Images, she was a practicing attorney in New York City and New Jersey in field of intellectual property and entertainment law, where she worked with various artists, designers, writiers, musicians, actors and entertainment related businesses. Prior to earning her law degree, Janet utilized her skills in the fields of advertising and marketing, working on nationally known accounts for advertising agencies. Janet holds her M.B.A. in marketing.
Throughout her career, Janet has been involved with planning, developing and implementing marketing plans and strategies, and providing solutions that work, including identity development, marketing communications materials, brochures, newsletters, direct mail pieces, advertisements, press releases, web sites and other electronic promotional materials.
